In order to maximize the steeping results in producing the shot, it is best to use a CTC (cut, torn and curled) tea. Whereas the
tea is mechanically picked and processes, the tea sizing allows for a quicker, more effective infusion in the portafilter. Full-leaf
cuts can also be used in the portafilter, but allowing the necessary time for the leaf to unfurl may reduce the effectiveness of the
infusion process.
